A loyal and active dog, the Blue Heeler, or Australian Cattle Dog, was originally bred in Australia as a cattle herder. The Blue Heeler is the opposite of a couch potato – they love to be busy and do best when they have a job. If their energy is not directed, they can become bored and destructive. They tend to bond with one person very closely and less so with others. Their herding instinct makes them prone to chase almost anything that moves. If they are raised with other animals from a young age, they can live peacefully with them.
