The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association rescues ACDs from these shelters to give the dogs a fresh start with a loving family. Our foster home volunteers welcome the dogs into their homes where they live as members of the family. During the time in foster care, our volunteers determine what kind of forever home will be the right one for each dog. We sincerely hope that this site will help you find the perfect dog to rescue near you.
The Blue Heeler is normally friendly, yet protective of their family and can be aloof with strangers.
Every year, thousands of Australian Cattle Dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Donations help us rescue ACDs from shelters where they are facing euthanasia, transport them to foster homes, care for their medical needs, and find them loving homes. ACDRA is a 501 Nonprofit dog rescue dedicated to helping Australian Cattle Dogs in need. Shop our Glad Dogs Nation wish list for toys, bones, treats, and supplies our fosters will enjoy. I’m sorry, there are no Blue Heeler rescue organizations that we have located in Indiana. A loyal and active dog, the Blue Heeler, or Australian Cattle Dog, was originally bred in Australia as a cattle herder. The Blue Heeler is the opposite of a couch potato – they love to be busy and do best when they have a job. If their energy is not directed, they can become bored and destructive. They tend to bond with one person very closely and less so with others. Their herding instinct makes them prone to chase almost anything that moves. If they are raised with other animals from a young age, they can live peacefully with them.
